Continuing your yoga practice as part of your postpartum healing is highly recommended. Yoga helps aid in a healthy recovery after delivery both physically and emotionally. It also helps the body adjust to changes still occurring during the early stages of motherhood.
Yoga helps strengthen the back, abdominals and pelvic floor muscles. It also helps stretch and release tension that is held in the shoulders and chest.
Yoga helps decrease stress. It rejuvenates the mind, and it builds patience and inner calmness.
It is recommended that women wait 6-8 weeks after delivery before starting postnatal yoga. It is important to allow the body to rest for the first six weeks after delivery to begin the healing process.
At Whole Family Health, we offer two different yoga programs for new moms:
• Postnatal Yoga
• Mom & Baby Yoga
Our Postnatal Yoga classes are a great way to meet other moms and begin to build a strong support network as you journey into motherhood.
