Reiki is a Japanese style of holistic healing. In the same way that Acupuncture can be used, Reiki can enhance and balance disrupted, weakened or blocked energy. Reiki does this by allowing your body’s own natural self-healing response to take over when you are in a state of deep relaxation. It does this by bringing your body out of sympathetic mode, your stress response (fight or flight) and brings you back into parasympathetic mode (rest and digest). When you are stressed out your body is constantly releasing adrenaline and cortisol which can wreak havoc on your body and mind, especially over a prolonged period of time leading to disease.

It also suppresses the reproductive system because it is deemed non-essential by your body in a fight or flight stress response, therefore causing problems with your hormone (endocrine) system. This can be a vicious cycle for those trying to conceive because of the stress associated and it makes it harder to rest and relax. Reiki is greatly beneficial for both partners because it ‘forces’ you to relax, even if only for one hour allowing your body to regulate itself and come back to homeostasis.
