Health Over Wealth

When I was in school, one of my teachers read us the quote by A.J Reb Materi, “So many people spend their health gaining wealth, and then have to spend their wealth to regain their health”. I frequently remind myself of this adage and truly believe that the secret to real success is to find balance in your life, by taking care of your body, mind, and spirit above all else.
In our society, it seems that the drive towards financial health takes precedence over the health of our own selves. I commonly see clients who seek out massage in final desperation, because they are so burnt out physically and emotionally from stress or have to take days off work from reoccurring body pain. But the greatest joy in my career is when I see these same people make the change in their lives to make their health their #1 priority.
My clients come back to me standing taller and smiling bigger each time, because they are no longer suffering with daily pain, are able to cope better in stressful situations, are able to play sports they haven’t been able to in years, and the best part is they are taking their “sick” days as vacations, rather than making visits to the doctor’s office.
Making the time to plan healthy meals, exercise regularly, get regular massage or other body work treatments, meditating, and laughing and really enjoying relationships with friends and family are the best things you can do to promote a happy, healthy life.
Finding this balance can seem challenging or sometimes costly in the beginning, but there is no greater investment then the investment in one’s own health.
